Cocos Monastery -
situated between hills and forests the building of the Cocos Monastery was started hundreds years ago by 3 Romanian monks from the mountain Athos. The view is outstanding – through its architecture and its beautiful location, the monastery Cocos is one of the most beautiful monasteries in Dobrogea and Romania.
Day by day itinerary:
Day 1 Welcome to Danube Delta
Transfer from the Bucharest Airport to the Delta Nature Resort. Briefing.
Day 2 Monastery & Wine tasting
Boat trip to Somova lake complex to see a variety of waterfowl. Enjoy lunch served by the nuns at the Saon Monastery. After lunch we travel by road to the Badila Cellars for a session of wine tasting. In addition to tasting fine old wines (20 years vintage) you will also receive bottles of white and red wine to carry home. We then visit the Cocos Monastery before returning to the resort.

Day 3 Danube Delta in full
This tour follows almost all the northern half of Danube Delta, including old natural narrow channels, big lakes with waterfowl bird species. Today we’ll see Sulina Branch, an engineering marvel of the XIX-th century, beautifull lipovan villages –the most isolated and idilic is Periprava and the famous Letea forest, the first natural reserve declared in Romania. Admire the fascinating landscape with big willows and poplars on the shores of Sontea Channel.

Day 4 A day in beautiful Dobrogea
See today Babadag Forest, admire here the birds of pray, woodpeckers and wheatears. Discover the Romanian Pompei - Histria was the first Greek colony on the west shore of the Black Sea and the oldest city on Romanian territory. In Vadu Area you’ll be charmed by the Stilts, Sandpipers, Spoon bills, Plovers, Terns, Dalmatian Pelican, hopefully Ruddy Shelduck or Paddyfield Warbler. Cheia Gorges is the best place for raptors:
Eagles, Buzzards, Sparrow-hawk: Ortolan Bunting and Corn Bunting also Larks or Wheatears.

Day 5 Fishing
It’s time to meet the Romanian pike and carp! We’ll try our luck fishing in the Somova-Parches lakes complex (alternatively half day Bird Watching).
